Become an Occupational Health Nurse

How do I become an OHN?

If you are an RN registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario you can apply for any Occupational Health Nursing position.

A great place to start your journey is to read through all the information available on our Occupational Health Nursing section of the website.

While, as a RN registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, you can apply for any Occupational Health Nursing positions, it is highly beneficial for RNs to have some Occupational Health programs on your side.

For programs that are offered via distance education you can find a list of colleges and universities here. Please contact each College or University of interest directly. You will also find professional development programs under Courses including one that offers a comprehensive overview of the specialty – The Essentials Of Occupational Health, Safety and Disability Management.

Career Opportunities

Approximately 85% of Ontario OHN positions are advertised by OOHNA. Career opportunities are posted on a regular basis on the member only section of the website
